RITUAL — ALTARS
LIKE THE HAND THAT FEEDS
jade in the grass like a window into the soul. seeds and sorrow and the deep blue.
She tells me in the kitchen, the liquid pouring over my hands onto the counter, onto the floor, she tells me and it echos for so long I forgot who she was.
When i was little my father and i would go out every week and we would stomp on them, bend them at the base. A ritual.
Poison like a heart of gold.
There’s a place somewhere I’ve already eaten you whole
Pure rose, sacred silk. I lick my fingers and wish for the best. I kiss your chest and I forget what it is like elsewhere. I no longer apologize on behalf of my mouth.
I have started to love my asian glow. it is the only time when i know for certain my blood is hers, that my body is hers. i feel the flush on my cheeks, the only time i feel warmth in my chest, i know she has too.
I wear it every day as if it was once hers
I look at my body like a table to be set for dinner. I wonder what it will be paired with, whether people will use the correct cutlery for the appropriate dish.
